A New Theory of Sexuality -
How people fall in love

Introduction
Love and sex are a complicated business.

People’s experiences of sexuality can be seen to a product of two
equally powerful forces. First, we have a nature we are born with, our
innate nature.  Second, we make sense of our nature through our
cultural beliefs. Our beliefs act like a lens, filtering out some information
and shaping how we see things.

                ?
             Innate Nature

                            Cultural Lens

It is often difficult to study sexuality because it is hard to know what is
nature and what is the lens.

This project puts forward a new theory about the nature basis of same-
sex attraction. But it is hard to know if it is right because we can only
ever see it through the lens.

The project sets up three tests for the theory.

History Test : can the theory explain gay experience through
history  when the cultural lens has changed through different
    eras?

Diversity of Current Experience Test : can the theory explain
the enormous diversity in current day gay experience?

Biological Science Test: can the theory account for the
    findings in evolutionary biology?

The ultimate test, however, is whether same-sex
attracted people feel it explains their experience.

Most researchers focus on only
one element.  This project is
ground breaking because of the
way it looks at both.
This site is only a simple
outline. The issues are detailed
and complex. For more info -
