In western culture, the sensory/earthy traits are woven into cultural stories about
different classes. The upper classes are described as having sensory traits. The
lower classes are believed to have earthy traits. As a result, some unscripted
people find scripts that let them express their earthiness or sensoriness by
borrowing across class.
Some sensory men borrow - upper class men's scripts
- inner city men's scripts
Some earthy women borrow - lower class women's scripts
- country women's scripts

| One of the great unsolved mysteries of gay and lesbian studies is that there is (on average) a large income divide between gay men and lesbians. It is greater than would be expected on the basis of sexism alone. One explanation might be that some gay men express themselves like upper class men, which helps them get high level jobs. Some lesbians express themselves like working class women, and understate their education, skills and class background. This may add to their downwards mobility. (*) |
